A Unity family has earned the award of Conservation Farmers of the Year for 2024. The Trib reports that the Westmoreland Conservation District gave the award to Todd Frescura for the family organic dairy farm. Conservation District officials say the family has taken great pride in the conservation practices they have put in place. The district also honored Richard King Mellon Foundation with the J. Roy Houston Partnership Award. Over the past several decades, funding from the foundation has helped the conservation district complete projects to improve water quality and restore habitat in the region.
