Religious officials in the Mon Valley are denouncing hateful messages that have targeted immigrants in area communities recently. Several pastors and other faith leaders gathered at Mount Cavalry Baptist Church in Monessen yesterday to call on those who live in the valley to remain united. Some white supremacy groups and others have made online posts and statements in an attempt to vilify some individuals and families, particularly the Haitian population that has settled in Charleroi. Pastor Robert Holmes with Christian Life Ministries urged the group to stand together, saying that will allow them to “beat back the hatred and replace it with love”.
