NEW KEN RESIDENTS WON’T SEE GARBAGE HAULING INCREASE

New Kensington residents will not see any increases in the cost for garbage hauling services.  The Trib reports that the fee for services from Westmoreland Sanitary Landfill will remain unchanged for 2025 after it had a dramatic increase in 2024.  Residents will pay about $135 a quarter for the service.  The price spike caused several residents to suggest a year ago that New Kensington explore collecting its own garbage. The city still is trying to determine whether that would be a viable option and has not made a decision, Mayor Tom Guzzo said.
