Coverage of the Strawpump fire district will be split between two other North Huntingdon fire departments because the fire company’s poor insurance rating has caused homeowners’ property insurance to jump in price. The Trib reports that the plan was approved yesterday by township commissioners. Hahntown and Westmoreland City fire departments will split the duties. Hahntown fire chief and chief of the North Hiuntingdon Fire Chiefs Association said that the departments will divide duty until Strawpump can regain its certification through the insurance services office. The company is in the midst of nominating someone to be the new fire chief.
