A business that has been in operation on William Penn Highway in Monroeville for nearly seven decades is shutting its doors. Bruce Silverblatt, the owner of Ralph’s Army Surplus, says he plans to close down the store and retire. Silverblatt says foot traffic in the shop has been down about 50 percent since before the pandemic and it is becoming difficult to keep the operation running. The inventory that isn’t sold after the end of the year will be auctioned off or donated, according to Silverblatt. He says he has not started the process of selling the building yet, so there aren’t any buyers lined up so far.
