NO CHARGES WILL BE FILED IN CONNECTION WITH JUNE 2024 EXPORT SHOOTING

Westmoreland County DA Nicole Ziccarelli said no charges will be filed in connection with a June shooting in Export.  The Trib reports that video evidence into the shooting of 65-year-old Daniel Chicka by 32-year-old Matthew Miller on June 18th showed that Miller’s actions were self-defense.  The two were involved in an argument on Madison Avenue on June 18th when Chicka was seen on video pulling a gun and pointing it at Miller.  Miller would then fire several rounds from his own gun, killing Chicka.  Miller still faces drug-related charges as troopers found 20 marijuana plants and drug paraphernalia in his basement.  Last month, Miller filed a motion seeking to have a nominal bond set. A hearing on the matter is scheduled Jan. 17.
