Westmoreland County’s Register of Wills could get a new leader as part of a deal reached between Governor Josh Shapiro and the State Senate to fill several vacancies across the state. The Trib reports that 43-year-old Jon Wian of Delmont was nominated to head the office. He currently is chief of staff for Commissioner Sean Kertes. The position is currently vacant after the former Register of Wills, Sherry Margetti Hamilton, was found in contempt of court last May for violating court orders requiring her to fix ongoing problems and failed to address complaints that she never showed up for work. She resigned last September.
