Westmoreland County Prosecutors say a long-lasting hostility between a New Florence woman and her mother provided the motive in her killing in late 2023. The Trib reports that 50-year-old Melissa Fox-Beacom is charged with criminal homicide and other crimes connected with the death of her mom, 71-year-old Alice Robson. Police believe she was shot and then buried under a porch at her St. Clair home, and that she recruited Matthew Bates of Ligonier Township and Robert Jack of Washington to shoot her. Police believe the killing was the last act of an ongoing dispute that involved the custody of a grandson who required 24-hour supervision due to medical concerns.
