A Penn Township environmental group is opposing a draft permit the state issued to a Rostraver landfill operator that wants to pipe treated leachate from its dump into the Monongahela River. The Trib reports that Noble Environmental Corporation of Pittsburgh wants to pump the treated leachate from its sanitary landfill into Spears Run, which flows into the river near the Bell Vernon Bridge. A hearing on the permit will be held by the DEP on March 20th at Rostraver Central Fire Department Social Hall on March 20th from 6:00 to 8:30 PM. The opposition comes from the group Protect PT.
