Egg producer Hillandale Farms was sold last month to Global Eggs of Luxembourg for $1.1 billion. The Trib reports that the company has corporate offices in Hempfield and production facilities in Gettysburg and other areas of the Northeast, Midwest and Southeast. Reuters reported that Gregory Cessna, chairman of Hillandale Farms, agreed to the deal with Global Eggs because investor Riccardo Faria “wants to sustain the business.” Founder Orland Bethel has not offered any comment on the sale.
