The Harrison funeral home tied into a pet cremation scandal is expected to be sold. The Trib reports that the owner, Patrick Vereb of Hazlewood was charged with theft of almost $660,000 after taking money for pet cremations but disposing of the animals in landfills and giving customers ashes that were not from their pets. The listing agent facilitating the sale of Vereb Funeral Home said he was made aware of the investigation the day that Vereb signed the agreement of sale. The funeral home is expected to have a new owner by the summer, but who that might be remains unknown.
