A grass-roots effort is underway to honor those affected by the actions of the owner of funeral homes who threw away beloved pets that were supposed to be cremated and gave them the ashes of other pets. The Trib reports that an event titled “Lost but Forever Loved – Victims of Patrick Vereb” will be held May 9th. Tina Moore of Greensburg, one of the victims in the case, is asking people to put a candle or luminary in their window that day as a tribute to their pets and a show of unity. Vereb, the owner of funeral homes in Harrison and Pittsburgh, was scheduled to have a preliminary hearing that day, but has waived charges to court. A formal arraignment will be held June 18th at the Allegheny County Courthouse.
