LIGONIER VALLEY SCHOOL BOARD MEMBER DIES

A member of the Ligonier Valley School Board has died.  The Trib reports that 54-year-old Joseph Vella passed away suddenly.  The cause of death has yet to be determined.  Outside of his work with the school board, Vella was an avid golfer and was an assistant coach of the sport at the school.  According to state law, the seat vacated by Vella’s death is to be filled through appointment by the remaining board members. The appointee would serve until Dec. 1, with voters electing a candidate to serve out the remaining two years of Vella’s term.
