A project is now underway to fix a large sinkhole off Route 30 in between Latrobe and Ligonier. WPXI-TV reports that the township was alerted to the sinkhole about nine years ago, but it took a long time to figure out how to fix it and who was responsible for it. The sinkhole was caused by the deterioration of two culverts from a stream into the Loyalhanna Creek installed more than 80 years ago. The project is now underway thanks to private and state grant funding being made available. They hope to have things fixed by Fall.
