A New York City man will spend more than three years in prison for stealing almost a million dollars meant to feed hungry Pennsylvanians. Federal officials said Darrell Devonish’s non-profit company Rebuilding Better Communities received over a million dollars from the Pennsylvania Department of Education to benefit the Child and Adult Care Food Program and Summer Food Service Program. However, prosecutors said he spent almost 900 thousand of those funds to fuel his lavish lifestyle, including jewelry and vehicle purchases. Devonish was recently sentenced to 41 months behind bars for wire fraud and money laundering.
