The Westmoreland County Transit Authority is postponing planned service changes due to uncertainty surrounding state funding. The authority had planned to alter the fixed-route bus system this year and set up “micro transit zones” that would work like rideshares. Governor Shapiro has set aside over 290-million dollars for mass transit in his latest budget proposal but the spending plan has not been passed by state lawmakers so far. Pittsburgh Regional Transit is also struggling with funding, recently announcing major service cuts will be necessary without additional dollars.
