A hearing was held yesterday on a policy adopted last summer by Westmoreland County commissioners to implement GPS tracking on all county vehicles. The Trib reports that Sheriff James Albert filed a lawsuit against the county after the policy was introduced, saying that it superseded the power given to him by the state Constitution and the voters. Lawyers also claimed that the policy was executive overreach and presented a safety risk to law enforcement personnel. Albert is seeking an exemption for his office.
