Area leaders are hoping for a bright future for the soon-to-be shuttered Penn State New Kensington campus. The Trib reports that State Representative Jill Cooper said that she hopes the process involving the property is transparent and engages the community. She added that while there are many ideas for the property, it should be one that benefits the community in the long-term. Dan Debone, the CEO and President of the Westmoreland County Chamber of Commerce said the news was devastating, but wants the property to be transformed into something that can continue to advance career readiness and education in the New Ken area.
