State officials say mosquitoes carrying West Nile Virus are spreading across Pennsylvania. The Department of Environmental Protection says the virus has been detected in more than half of the counties in the Commonwealth, including all of the Susquehanna Valley. The CDC says most people do not develop symptoms after a mosquito bite from a West Nile carrier, but severe illness is possible. The DEP recommends Pennsylvanians wear long sleeves when mosquitoes are most active at dawn and dusk and dispose of any standing water.
