Bushy Run Battlefield has announced that at the upcoming battle reenactment, they will rename a hill on its 218-acre property to a more culturally appropriate name. The Trib reports that the hill is informally known as Iroquois Hill and was meant to refer to indigenous people who took part in the battle from five native American nations. But over the years, the term has taken on a derogatory meaning. Ceremonies on Saturday at 2:00 PM will officially dedicate the hill as Haudenosaunee Hill. Haudenosaunee means “People of the long house,” referring to the longhouses the tribes lived in. The Bushy Run reenactment will be held from 10-4 on Saturday and Sunday.
