Westmoreland Transit says that the state budget impasse has not impacted the agency. The Trib reports that Alan Blahovec stated that the authority has sufficient reserves to continue operations for a few months. It is set to receive $5.57 million in fixed-route operating funds from PennDOT, but had Governor Josh Shapiro’s budget passed, there would have been an additional $1.16 million. The Westmoreland County Transit Authority board approved a $17.9 million budget for the current fiscal year, which began July 1. Until a state budget is passed, the authority likely would get the same amount of money from the state that it received in the 2024-25 fiscal year.
