The head of the Pennsylvania Democratic Party is stepping down. Party Chair Sharif Street announced yesterday he is leaving the role to prepare for his run for Congress. Street, a State Senator from Philadelphia, said last month he plans to enter the race to succeed retiring Congressman Dwight Evans. The election to replace Street as party chair is set for September 6th.
