Hundreds of federal workers in Western Pennsylvania are now furloughed as the government shutdown continues. Representatives with the National Treasury Employees Union say about 250 of their members in the region were told not to report to work earlier this week. The work stoppage means taxpayers will be unable to get in-person service from the IRS offices in Altoona, Johnstown, Cranberry, Monroeville, and Pittsburgh. Many of the furloughed employees typically go to work in the William S. Moorehead Federal Building in downtown Pittsburgh.
