JEANNETTE OFFICIALS LOOKING TO ENTICE PEOPLE TO JOIN POLICE FORCE

Jeannette officials are looking at ways to entice people to join the police force.  The Trib reports that they have two openings on the force, but as of Tuesday, no one has applied for them.  The application period closes October 31st.  Earlier in the week, police chief Derek Manley asked council to increase the wages for new hires.  He proposed council eliminate the pay scale established in an August arbitration decision, which is in effect until August of 2028.  The city’s hands may be tied until then.
