NEW BUDGET IN PLACE FOR PA

A new budget is in place for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania after months of disagreement between Republican and Democrat lawmakers in Harrisburg.  Governor Shapiro signed the 50-billion-dollar spending plan yesterday.  Republicans were able to convince Democrat officials to do away with Pennsylvania’s involvement in the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative, freeing up funding for education investments Democrats wanted to make.  The state was without a budget since July 1st, prompting hiring freezes and employee furloughs for many county governments, including Westmoreland..
