The investigation continues into an officer-involved shooting in Derry Township that killed one man. The Trib reports that 28-year-old Ryan Hunker was killed as he exchanged gunfire with state police and officers from Latrobe police department last Saturday. Trooper Steven Limani with the state police said that officers had been called out to the home on James Street four times in less than a year for domestic complaints that resulted in no arrests. Police had ordered him to show his hands and surrender, but he refused to comply. Police tried to use a taser to subdue him but that failed. It’s not known which officer fired the shot that killed Hunker. Once the state police investigation is complete, the DA’s office will start their investigation to determine if the shooting was justified.
