A program that offered free parking in Greensburg for donations to a local food pantry was a massive success. The Trib reports that three truckloads of food was collected over eight days of the program. The food went to the Feeding the Spirit program. It was an effort by city officials to help in light of the temporary suspension of federal food assistance earlier this month for about 46,000 people in Westmoreland County. Feeding the Spirit immediately put them to use Thursday, handing out bags of groceries to those who picked up the nonprofit’s free weekly takeout meal at the Greensburg church. There were 365 meals distributed Thursday.
