The Connellsville Polar Bear Club kicked off the new year with their annual Polar Bear Plunge into the Youghiogheny River on Wednesday. The Trib reports that the plunge benefitted the food pantries of Connellsville Area Community Ministries. Many people braved the 19-degree air temperatures and icy waters as part of the event, Warming tents, bonfires and hot chocolate were all made available to help the participants warm up afterwards.
