The Bigfoot statue in Derry Borough could be getting its own park. Local leaders have plans to move the wooden carving of the creature from Mossback Park to a new space at Chestnut Street and Second Avenue where it will be displayed prominently. The new park would also have picnic areas, brick paver paths, and low-maintenance landscaping, according to borough officials. The local council is waiting for word on a state grant application before the park project can move forward. The Bigfoot statue pays tribute to the supposed sightings of the legendary beast in nearby Chestnut Ridge over the years. The piece was debuted for Derry’s Railroad Days Festival in 2024.
