The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette is ceasing operations. The family-owned company that runs the newspaper announced Wednesday the final edition will be May 3rd. Block Communications says it’s lost more than 350 million dollars over the past 20 years and the continued cash losses at this scale are no longer sustainable. The company also cited a recent court decision that ruled in favor of the paper’s union and restored terms of an older labor contract. The paper’s origins date back to 1786.
