MONESSEN POLICE INVESTIGATING ATTEMPTED CHURCH THEFT

Police in Monessen are investigating reports that someone tried to steal cash during Sunday services at a local church.  A member of the congregation at St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church says they saw someone try to take money from the collection basket.  When the perpetrator realized they had been seen, they reportedly dropped the money back into the basket and fled the scene.
