The family of a Butler county man killed in a motorcycle crash in 2024 filed a lawsuit yesterday against Allegheny Township and Westmoreland County. The Trib reports that 25-year-old Roger Davis Jr. died from injuries he suffered in a 2024 crash at the intersection of Routes 356 and 56. The lawsuit contends that poorly marked curves and a history of “roadway departures” at that intersection lead to his death. The Davis family contends that remnants of damaged traffic signs at the site prove that local and state officials were aware of the danger but failed to take corrective action. The suit further alleges a lack of adequate signage to help drivers differentiate between the median and the pavement during the merge. The county solicitor has declined to comment, and Allegheny Township supervisors have not yet issued a statement.
