Union healthcare workers are asking Senator Dave McCormick to decline an ambassador nomination for a man who owned nursing homes in Western PA. SEIU Healthcare Pennsylvania organized a small gathering outside McCormick’s Pittsburgh office yesterday, asking the senator to vote against the appointment of Benjamin Landa as ambassador to Hungary. The group says Landa owned over 30 nursing home in Pennsylvania, with a handful in the Pittsburgh region, including The Grove locations in Greenville, Harmony, Irwin, Latrobe, New Castle, and Washington. Landa had faced a number of lawsuits over the properties before selling them off, with complaints ranging from understaffing to poor care and high COVID-19 death rates.
