A group of seven men pleaded guilty to luring people to rob them at PA service plazas and truck stops in Westmoreland, Dauphin, Somerset and Washington Counties. The Trib reports that Cincinnati natives John Henry Black, Robert Dennis Murphy, Darrell Marshall Noel III, Adam Rick Smith, and Danny Williams along with Robert Chandler of Batavia, Ohio and Wendell Compton of Tennessee entered pleas to five counts of robbery in county court. Deputy attorney general Alex Cashman said they would isolate people at the rest stops and truck stops with a lure of a lottery win. Once lured behind parked trucks, victims were offered a chance to gamble on card games. As soon as they showed their money, they were surrounded by the other defendants who took their cash and jewelry before fleeing in three vehicles.Chandler, Black, Noel and Murphy were each sentenced to serve 3 to 23 months in jail but were given credit for time served and immediately paroled. Williams, Compton and Smith were sentenced to time served to 12 months in jail and paroled.
