MASSIVE GAS LEAK PREVENTED AFTER FLOOR COLLAPSE IN MT. PLEASANT STORE

A massive gas leak was prevented yesterday after a floor collapse at a store in Mt. Pleasant.  The Trib reports that the leak was discovered at Renovation Nation on East Main Street after the floor collapsed.  That collapse was not discovered until Wednesday.  Columbia Gas was called in and they were able to shut off the gas to the building.  Officials say that 90% of the building was filled with gas and if an explosion happened, it would have leveled half a block.  The place will not reopen until safety inspectors give their approval.
