A Jeannette man claims that police used excessive force when officers subdued him during the investigation into the death of an e-bike rider last year in Hempfield. The Trib reports that 62-year-old James Grady II faces charges of misdemeanor resisting arrest and summary disorderly conduct connected with a search of his home on August 1st. Grady owned the e-Bike that 19-year-old Jaden Lynch was riding when Lynch was struck by a vehicle on College Avenue on July 31st. Assistant Public Defender Devin O’Leary said police had no basis to detain Grady during the search. He said the officers’ actions left his client with a fractured vertebra and a lacerated kidney. Grady requests the charges against him be dismissed.
