Officials in Irwin have approved a study to find a detour around the closed Colony Drive Bridge. The Trib reports that officials face a $1 million price tag for the structure’s replacement. Gibson-Thomas Engineering will conduct the study to find feasible detours around the closed span. Officials say the route likely would involve directing eastbound traffic on Route 30 from Colony Drive to Barnes Lake Road in North Huntingdon, then connecting with streets in the township that intersect with Colony Drive, south of the closed bridge. The study could take up to four months to complete and will cost between $15,000 and $20,000.
