A loud boom heard in Ohio and surrounding states this morning is said to have been caused by a meteor. Thousands of people in Northeast Ohio, Pennsylvania and New York reported hearing and feeling the boom just before 9 a.m. Eastern, with Professor Ralph Harvey saying it likely hit the upper atmosphere. Some reported the boom caused their houses to shake and caused items to fall from shelves. Video posted by the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh shows a burning meteor streaking across the sky. No injuries have been reported.
