A new date has been declared in the trial of a man charged with a shooting in Pittsburgh that has a Westmoreland County connection. In December of 2022, 36-year-old Corey Washington was shot and killed at the Family Dollar on Brighton Road in Pittbsurgh’s Marshall-Shadeland neighborhood. While providing testimony this week about the alleged shooter, Ambrose Sample Junior, a police officer stated in court that Sample told another inmate that he “caught another body” instead of “caught a body” which led to the idea that Sample had previously killed before. Sample does have a criminal conviction in a killing in 1999. A mistrial was granted and a new trial has been scheduled to begin on June 15th.
