FORT ALLEN PTO TREASURER ACCUSED OF STEALING FUNDS

The Fort Allen Parent Teacher Organization treasurer is accused of stealing $46,000 from the group’s account.  The Trib reports that charges were filed against Darshanna L. Truss of Hempfield is charged with two counts of theft.  The investigation started after rumors circulated about the group’s bank account was lower than expected.  County detectives took over the investigation.  In a review of the finances, PTO President Jason Ledbetter discovered several checks allegedly discovered multiple checks issued either directly to Truss, or made out to cash and endorsed by Truss.  She is free on $50,000 unsecured bail and a preliminary hearing is set for March 31st.
