A former Saltsburg man charged with the deaths of three people is asking the state supreme court to hear a new trial. The Trib reports that lawyers for Kevin Murphy are challenging a recent ruling of Westmoreland County Common Pleas Court Judge Meghan Billik-Defazio that upheld the convictions. He is charged with the 2013 killing of Doris Murphy, Kris Murphy and Edith Tietge at the family’s auto glass business in Loyalhanna Township. Murphy claimed in the appeal that his previous lawyers did not properly investigate other suspects and gave him bad advice about not joining the jury on a visit to the site of the murder.
