Six men are facing hate crime charges in connection to an alleged attack on a Jewish student in Pennsylvania. According to the DOJ, the men, who range in age from 19 to 28, were charged by a federal grand jury with violating the Matthew Shepard and James Byrd Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act, obstructing justice and conspiring to obstruct justice. The department says the group accosted the University of Pittsburgh student in 2024, and the incident turned physical, leaving the student with “bodily injury that included physical pain, a split lip, and headaches.” The charges could lead to years in prison and hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines.
