JEANNETTE FIRE CHIEF SEEKING PAY RAISE FOR OVERNIGHT FIREFIGHTERS

Jeannette Fire Chief Bill Frye is seeking a pay raise for overnight firefighters that cover the overnight shifts.  The Trib reports that he is asking city council to raise the hourly rate from $8.25 to $12 to encourage firefighters to take overnight shifts.  Jeannette is Westmoreland County’s only full-time paid fire department.  Council could consider voting on the raise at a meeting on April 9.
