A fire destroyed a garage in Jeannette and damaged the back of an attached vacant house yesterday afternoon. The Trib reports that the fire was called in at 4:46 PM. Fire officials say a small heater exploded while a contractor was working on the garage at 772 Allwine Avenue. When crews arrived, the fire had gone into the back of the house. It took about 20 minutes to bring the fire under control. Contractor David Kerlin lost everything including tools, two tractors, weed cutters, a lawnmower and a motorcycle. Kerlin claimed he suffered smoke inhalation. No firefighters were hurt.
