Reports say that Spirit Airlines could liquidate its assets soon. Bloomberg news says sources familiar with the matter are saying the discount carrier faces mounting pressure in the wake of skyrocketing jet fuel costs and a stalled bankruptcy reorganization. According to the Trib, the move could strand travelers at Arnold Palmer Regional Airport or looking for another way home if it happens mid-trip. Westmoreland County Airport Authority Executive Director Gabe Monzo said officials have worked on contingency plans since last September in case this happens, and that negotiations with other carriers have, in his words, “progressed significantly”.
