In 1972 Blue Oyster Cult’s Phil King was shot and killed in a gambling fight in New York City.
In 1994 Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler discussed his heroin addiction on ABC-TV’s “Turning Point.”
In 2003 Iggy and the Stooges reunited for a performance on the second night of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts festival in Indio, California.
In 2009 The Tennessee House of Representatives approved a measure to rename a portion of State Route 176, known as Getwell Road in Shelby County, Jerry Lee Lewis Highway. Lewis and his daughter, Phoebe, were on hand at the legislative session.
In 2012 Sammy Hagar joined the other surviving members of Montrose for a tribute concert in San Francisco to honor the band’s late namesake and leader, Ronnie Montrose, who died nine weeks earlier. Members of Ronnie’s other band, Gamma, performed as well, along with Journey’s Neal Schon, KISS’ Eric Singer and Tommy Thayer, and Styx’s Rickie Philips.
In 2016 It was announced that Prince’s Paisley Park was going to be turned into a museum in Chanhassen, Minnesota in his honor.
In 2020 Scott Taylor from Then Jerico died at the age of 58. He had a brain tumor.
In 2021 Australian rock singer and songwriter Anita Lane died at the age of 61.
