Volunteers took part in a simulated plane crash drill at Arnold Palmer Regional Airport in Unity, designed to test how first responders handle a major emergency. According to the Tribune-Review, more than 150 people were assigned roles during a past exercise, including Carolyn Holland of Ligonier, who portrayed a passenger with fatal injuries alongside her husband and granddaughter. Officials said the large-scale drills are required every three years under Federal Aviation Administration regulations to maintain certification and improve emergency response plans. The next disaster simulation is scheduled for Wednesday evening, though organizers said the volunteer list has already filled due to strong community interest.
