A six-year-old girl has written a three-page letter to Ligonier Township officials to urge them to add a splash pad to Ligonier Beach Park. The Trib reports the letter came from 6-year-old Vanessa Zelczak-Waryas, who said the splash pad would make things more fun for first-graders like her. A splash pad is included in the master site development plan for Ligonier Beach that Mackin Engineers and Consultants of Robinson presented to the public in March, but it is not slated for construction until the fifth phase of a six-phase plan for the park along Route 30, east of Ligonier. The master plan does not propose repairing the 125-foot-by-400-foot swimming pool site to its previous use because of the cost and its proximity to Loyalhanna Creek and the potential for flooding.
