Pennsylvania is joining a multi-state lawsuit over the Trump administration’s access to information on state Temporary Assistance for Needy Families programs. Changes to federal oversight announced in June give the administration the ability to access data belonging to TANF recipients and share that information with other government agencies and, possibly, private organizations, according to the plaintiffs. That data includes Social Security numbers, immigration status and other sensitive details. Governor Shapiro is among the state officials arguing that the TANF policy is illegal.
