HEMPFIELD WOMAN PLEADS GUILTY TO CHILD ENDANGERMENT CHARGES

A Hempfield woman pleaded guilty to child endangerment charges connected with an incident last Christmas.  The Trib reports that 27-year-old Mia Riser was charged with multiple offenses as police said she stabbed a 28-year-old man after an incident in the family’s apartment.  She also allegedly wielded a knife and threatened to jump out of a window while holding her 10-month-old child.  Police said the victim had talked Riser out of jumping and got the child to safety.  On Monday, prosecutors dismissed one felony count of aggravated assault in connection with the stabbing. Riser pleaded guilty to one charge of child endangerment and one count of reckless endangerment, and Westmoreland County Common Pleas Judge Meagan Bilik-DeFazio sentenced her to serve up to 23 months in jail.
